Until September 2023, Bibracte presents "Geot", a steel sculpture by Robert Schad, installed in the Champlain sector.
Robert Schad is a German artist living in Haute-Saône, who expresses himself through drawing and monumental sculpture, made of massive welded steel tubes. He likes to display his sculptures in the open air, where they seem to have grown up on the spot, to be rooted in their environment. Steel, the material of weapons, machines and construction, becomes an integral part of nature; it loses its hardness and through its form, it is enriched with a vegetal character.
Conceived by the artist as a memorial, this sculpture refers to the trees of the Mount Beuvray forest, severely damaged by the effects of climate change. Its title is inspired by a Breton word meaning "the stem".
This sculpture is presented as part of the exhibition "Dix par dix", a journey of sculptures in Burgundy-Franche-Comté (October 2021-September 2023), which has received the support of the DRAC Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and the Region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
